How you can help?
Fundraising and Community Relations
We are always in need or volunteers who can help us raise funds. We do this in many various ways, so all input is needed and appreciated. We need people who have great communication skills, who are able to talk to business owners and community members to come up with new and innovative ways to raise money.
Providing Foster Homes For Animals
Foster homes are desperately needed. Fostering an animal in need is very rewarding. It is one of the best things that you can do for a rescued animal, giving much needed love and training. Rescued animals that are fostered in homes have a higher chance of adoption. Because their character is being monitored, and they are taught basic obedience skills which makes them better candidates for adoption. Also, being in foster care while waiting to be adopted reduces the amount of money that a rescue animal costs H.A.R.T. This greatly helps us, and by reducing our cost, allows us to save more animals.
We have regular adoption events where we take all of our adoptable animals out into the public, at different venues. We absolutely cannot do this without help from volunteers. We need people to help walk the dogs, answer questions from interested people, help setting up our booth, help cleaning up when the event is over, and many other things that go along with a public event. Even if you can just come for an hour and walk a dog, it is a great help!
Sponsor a Pet
We understand that time is in short supply for many people, and full time jobs sometimes get in the way of being able to volunteer as often as you would like. Would you consider sponsoring a pet instead?
Sponsoring a pet, by donating a certain amount or money every month to help with the care of a H.A.R.T. pet, helps immensely and allows us to have the resources to save even more animals.
We need help writing grants. There are so many grants out there, just waiting to be taken, but there is a skill needed in applying for them. If you have experience with grant writing, we need your help.
Several times a year we hold special events. Some of these events are fundraisers, some events are just for fun, but they all have one thing in common ... they all require a lot of work. We are always in need of extra hands to help at these events. Your duties will be varied, depending on the event, but I guarantee you'll have fun!
Donations of Goods and Services
We can always use donations of goods and services as well as money. Do you have anything that you can donate for HA.R. T. to use for our rescue animals? We are in need of blankets, dog beds, towels, cleaning supplies, toys, balls, kennels, crates, and much more.
If you have a business in town, and can donate your services, we can always use gift certificates as incentives for fundraising events. There are many ways that you can donate, please ask us how you and your business can help!
There are many times that we need to transport our animals from one place to another. We are in need of good, dependable drivers to help us with transports. We regularly travel to Helen Woodward Animal Center in California, as well as to other rescues in the southwest area. We also travel to other area shelters to pick up animals in need. Please let us know if you are willing to help us by being a HA.R. T. driver!
